Privacy Policy
FTP Client is an FTP / FTPS / SFTP file-transfer client. It connects only to the servers you choose. The developer does not operate any server for this app, and does not receive or have access to any of your data.
1. Data we collect
The developer receives no data. The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking libraries, it does not create user accounts, and nothing is sent to the developer. The developer does not sell or share any personal or device data.
To connect, the app sends the information you enter (server address, username, password, and paths) and the files you choose to transfer to the server you specify. Because this information leaves your device, it counts as “collected” under Google Play's Data safety definitions, and is declared there as follows:
- What: whatever you type into the connection fields. Depending on what you enter (for example, if a username is a phone number or an email address), this may include personal information such as a phone number.
- Why: app functionality only, to log in to your server and transfer files. It is never used for analytics, advertising, or any other purpose.
- Optional: you decide what to enter; the app never requires a phone number or other personal details.
- Not shared: it is sent only to the server you chose, at your request, and is not given to the developer or any other third party.
- Encryption: FTPS and SFTP encrypt it in transit; plain FTP does not (see section 3).
2. Data stored on your device
The app stores the following locally on your phone only. It is never uploaded to the developer or to any third party, and it is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
- Site settings — server name, host address, port, protocol, username, and (only if you enable “Remember password”) the password, plus options such as character encoding and transfer mode. These are kept in the app's private storage (SharedPreferences).
- SSH host keys — for SFTP connections, the server's host key fingerprint is remembered on first connect (trust on first use) so later connections can be verified.
- App preferences — such as the interface language and last-used folders.
Credentials are stored in plain text in the app's private storage, in the same way desktop clients such as FileZilla store their site manager. If you prefer not to keep them, turn off “Remember password” or use Quick Connect.
3. Network connections
The app makes network connections only to the FTP / FTPS / SFTP servers whose addresses you enter yourself. Your credentials and files are sent to those servers so that the transfer can happen — that is the purpose of the app. The developer has no access to those servers or to anything sent over those connections.
Plain FTP is an unencrypted protocol: your username, password, and file contents travel in clear text and can be read by anyone on the network path. Use FTPS or SFTP outside a network you trust. How a server you connect to handles your data is governed by that server operator's own policy, not by this one.
4. Permissions and why they are needed
- Internet / network state — to connect to the servers you configure.
- All files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) / storage — to let you browse your phone's files, upload any file you pick, and save downloads to any folder you choose. Files are read or written only for the transfers you start; they are never sent anywhere except to the server you selected.
- Foreground service & wake lock — to keep transfers running when the app is in the background or the screen is off.
- Notifications — to show transfer progress and let you cancel transfers.
5. Children
The app is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. The developer does not knowingly receive data from anyone, including children under 13.
6. Your choices
Because nothing is sent to the developer, there is no data held by the developer to access, correct, export, or delete. Data held by a server you connect to is managed by that server's operator. You can delete everything the app stores at any time by deleting individual sites in the app, or via Android's Settings → Apps → FTP Client → Storage → Clear data, or by uninstalling the app.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new “Last updated” date.

- App
